"Picture a beautiful young woman racing down the freeway in a classic red Corvette with a distrustful Julius Caesar riding shotgun...A wild ride from start to finish." —Booklist Magazine
A time-travel thriller in which a secret experiment brings Julius Caesar from the Ides of March to 1999 California—until a kidnapping plot puts history itself at risk.
When 20-something Cassandra Fleury is invited to join an elite team of classicists and scientists to test new technology for dating ancient artifacts, she jumps at what appears to be the opportunity of a lifetime. But after signing a heavy-duty nondisclosure agreement, she learns the truth: the project's real mission is to transport Julius Caesar from a moment right before his death on the Ides of March, 44 B.C.E. to a lab in California, where he'll stay for four days. Now everything makes sense. Cassandra's good looks and experience as a cocktail waitress combined with her fluency in Latin make her an ideal interface between Caesar and the other members of the team.
A thrilling time travel adventure begins with Caesar's arrival. Nothing goes as planned, resulting in excruciating ethical dilemmas, hilarious misinterpretations, a crazy road trip to Las Vegas, and an unlikely romance. Caesar returns to the Ides of March, but the world will never be the same.
