Patton's narration is as irresistible as the man-made chemical flavorings that are reported to be taking over the taste of "real" food and to be the real cause of our nation's obesity epidemic. Patton's modulated voice smoothly delivers the scientific research, while his well-timed pauses highlight the stunning statistics on obesity and the paradoxes of our culture's love-hate obsession with food. The author also discusses how food technology and marketing determine much of what we choose to eat and what we really taste.
