      Narrators Erin Bennett and Karissa Vacker alternate chapters as they provide the points of view of former doctor and ex-con Blair Harbour and Detective Jessica Sanchez, who arrested Blair 10 years earlier. The story takes place in L.A., where Harbour agrees to help her former cellmate find her missing daughter, which brings Harbour back to Sanchez's attention. At the same time, Sanchez is challenged by troubles with her colleagues on the police force. Listeners will need to suspend disbelief over the coincidences that are necessary to make the plot work and over the irrational behavior of the supposedly smart protagonists.
